"No lloren por mi, que yo estoy libre; me fui de la mano con Dios...!
"Dios me ha llamado. Dios me ha liberado!"
After years with Alzheimer's my dad died on Thursday October 1, 2015 with my mom by his side holding his hand.
Dad was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on December 23, 1932. He led a good life. He finally was free, he heard God's call and answered! He was the most happy Alzheimer's patient there ever has been , he loved to eat and sing and above all he loved to pray and worship the Lord.
Dad came from a very big family, lots of brothers and sisters, had an awesome dad so he was awesome too. He was a happy and loving dad and husband. Loved to eat, whistle even in church, ya he whistled the entire hymn we would here him and giggle; he loved to play his "cuatro" (a puertorrican instrument), drink coffe and put the cup on his head so we would go and pick it up, sometimes we just didn't so they broke a few of them....he was brave, he had three girls all very strong will and mom who is quite strong will also. He loved mom and always respected her. They were the bomb!
Then came the grandkids, boy did he love them and enjoyed them to the fullest! The best babysitter we had! Yep the kids loved him because well the played played and played and did whatever they wanted. I think that was the best part for them. His joy was his grandkids, when the first boy arrived he went on a public bus and was there at the hospital before anyone even was awake in the house! He was happy!! The first boy!! He loved each moment of receiving them in his arms and was able to see three of them get married, he loved eating the cake.
Yes my dad was special even in the home where he was he received and gave joy and fun! He loved his brothers and sisters, he loved mom, he loved us crazy girls, loved his grandkids, had some fun with two great grand kids. But, he was in a stage that was very sad to see him, mom and my sister were more with him, mom never left him, and always had him clean and tidy, I just couldn't see him too much like that so deteriorated. The night before I had an oral presentation and went and gave it and my classmates and profesor saw me go to be at the hospital with dad, I always thank Mario my husband because he took me and mom and I stayed in emergency room he was so in pain so fragil, I prayed God take him to rest with you please, I didn't know that was my sisters Anny's prayer also, I put my prayer warriors to pray so his operation would be done, the took him and operated, amputated his left leg, and everything came out well...I called mom the next morning and she said I'm going to see him now and when she got there he took her hand words were said and he passed away to be in God's arms and recuperate as we all said goodbye and laid his body to rest.
In all this ordeal the Lord sent me or we'll all of us the most beautiful boy in the world! Yep Brayden Daniel you are a gift from God that has bought smiles and happy tears to this family. I still haven't been able to smooch you, but will do soon!
Dad yes you are missed! Dad, yes I cry, we all do, but I'm happy because you are in a better place waiting for the trumpet to be played and receive your best body ever! I love you dad! We all miss you! See you soon!!
